Can’t help but laugh at this one.  It was found in the Urban Dictionary by a crush of mine.

The Press

So why all of these questions about Brian Williams integrity and reliability?

Every media reporter on this planet should follow his lead. In fact, the biggest liars out there should be going home behind him today. Brian lied, and then told the truth. Good for him!

Now how many of the rest of these story tellers are going to follow suit? Or are they all going to jump on their high horses and point their fingers at him for the rest of their untruthful careers?

The news media needs a complete overhaul just as much as the government does. I trust none of them. They are all simply trying to secure and keep their jobs at the expense of the wondering public.

From NBC to Fox to Russia Today, lies are being spread like butter on a roll, and people are believing it all, like the gospel. (God forbid I would mention God in all this). But I thought that telling the truth is a Godly notion? For those people that claim religion, telling the truth is the first thing you must do, regardless of what your Producer tells you. Even if you are the Producer.

The Jews are not responsible for all the worlds wars. Nor is America, or anywhere else in the West. The media is. They are also currently responsible for the troubles in my personal relationships as well. (Not that I don’t own it. I do. But they are not helping me currently with a woman I love dearly from another country).

And they all lie for the purpose of ratings and to have something else to fill the void in the 24 hour news cycle. These people get paid, and are often paid so well, that they are part of the 1%, or the ruling class as some would call it. Why would they not bend the truth a little just to keep you watching, and us fighting? If I want to make my point, I have to tune in tonight so that I can gather more ammunition in my fight to prove myself right. They count on that, from all of us. From America to the Ukraine and all the way around the globe.

And they are full of shit! Brian Williams was just the first person to say it without being pressed against the wall to do it. I wonder how many of these other folks will have an attack of conscious and admit to it themselves? Dumbass Don Lemon, I’m looking at you. Fox News? Looking squarely in your direction. MSNBC? Somebody speak up. Other than Melissa Harris-Perry.

But if you are telling people every day what is going on, why it’s going on, and who may or may not be the person generating this news, you have an obligation. An obligation to tell the truth. To be honest, whether it’s something you agree with or not. If you loose your job, at least you can do it with dignity. I would rather be homeless and correct; than warm and dry and a liar. And I can tell you, I have been put to that test. I was not homeless, but I wasn’t warm, dry, and comfortable at home either.

What can we do about it? I recently told someone that they had told me enough of what was wrong and who’s fault it was, and now what are we going to do about it?! I eagerly await their answer because I know that whatever it is, it’s going to create a lot of discomfort and sacrifice on the people’s part, and the follow up to that question will be, will everyone want to do it.

If we have to live without news or heat, or Internet, or fast food (Papa John?), or nice clothes, or cheap Chinese made goods…etc. Will we as people, be willing to suffer those things to force the world to tell us the truth. Will we be willing to shed blood, or even die to force governments to treat us with respect, or stop the police from killing our kids?

What will we do to stop ISIS from taking over the Middle East? Is that too huge to assume it won’t happen? If Obama can’t talk to Iran, who will? Will you? Why aren’t we waiting for the Ukraine to ask us for help before we give rebels more reasons to shoot at their citizens?

Why won’t anyone stand up to Congress and force them to work with the President to solve problems, rather than ruining the American people trying to prove that they will not take orders from “that” Commander in Chief? Why won’t we either recognize our entire government or not at all. Not just the parts that look like us.

What very uncomfortable steps will we as human beings take, to give tomorrow’s adults a world that they can live in? It might be easier to do if we knew the entire truth.

Journalists, the ball’s in your court.

Peace

Drugs Are Bad

So how much crack cocaine do you think gets done at Fox News every day? I am pretty sure that it is a lot more that gets done in most of America’s inner cities and a large part of it’s suburbs. Those people are insane! Really. I sometimes tune in to their shows to see what their spin is, and my God! Either they are serious pure bred racists, heavily involved with mind altering drugs, or they all need psychological help that goes way beyond what’s in the books.

I mean, it’s one thing to have a certain political slant. we are used to that in today’s 24 hour news cycle. A certain amount of crap has to be spewed in order to fill all of that time. When I was growing up, the maximum amount of hours for the news cycle, even on a busy day was about 6 hours or so. But now, they have to have something to say all day and night long. So I guess it helps to have a certain bias to give you something to chase.

But sometimes I just sit in disbelief at what I hear and have to wonder if these people actually believe what they are saying. Am I alone in that? I have to hope that they are just trying to get paid like everyone else who works for a living and that they don’t actually buy into the diarrhea that they themselves are spitting out. It just can’t be. Are our own people, our fellow countrypersons truly this evil? Do they feel and talk this way at home, to their friends, neighbors, relatives, and God? That last one, is a horse of another color, so I won’t go into that, but I do hope they are at least correcting themselves in their prayers. And that’s all I have to say about that!

Quite frankly, I don’t know what to do with it. You can’t combat hate with hate, so that’s out. I don’t really desire to hate anyone regardless of how much they hate me and anything I might stand for. But sometimes, I think that’s exactly what they are trying to pull out from within me. That would give them the ammunition they need to call me a racists or better yet, a thug. Fox news loves throwing around that word. Could be the new “nigger” for all that?

I can hear the sound of rolling eyes from all over as anyone might read this, but I have to say that such a canned response is no longer believable. Nor is the “playing the race card” crap, for that matter. It is what it is. When you show me the stats showing the white kids randomly shot buy cops on a daily basis, then maybe I will start to lean in Fox New’s direction. If it’s happening, I’m sure not hearing about it, and I know that I would. We all would. Then, we would have a problem. But as long as it’s just “thugs” being killed by police and random neighborhood watch members, there’s no problem. Just a bunch of animals destroying their own city. Those are not my words, but words Tweeted to me by a nice “non-racist” gentleman from Missouri last week.

Animals? Well, yeah. That’s what we do with animals right? Hunt them and kill them. And I guess it’s hunting season lately. I would love to suggest a hunting season of our own, but then I would be simply another “thug” that would need to be wiped off the face of the earth like any of the other animals correct? Well, worry not my friends; I will think of something else. And the solution will be more painful to some people than anything physical could ever be. This is my warning post.

There are some, cheered on by Fox News and others who seek to exterminate us. And then there are some who are eying you with the intent to make you feel the pain for every single unarmed child that you kill. And you will feel it, I promise. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I am tired of asking nicely to be treated with mutual respect, and having that request spit at, and stomped on, and ultimately killed by someone thinking they are some kind of God doing society a favor.

While we, as a country, shake our fingers at everyone else for the way they treat their people, we are still treating an entire segment of our population like the animals that some people trapped in the 1800s still think we are. And these people are teaching their kids the same ideas that were taught to them.

Well, I’m not asking anymore. Stop asking. Start telling. Start showing.

Have a wonderful, rose-colored day.

Keep Asking

I am curious today.  Not that I am surprised at the outcome.  I am becoming surprised at the reaction.  “No peace, no justice. No justice, no peace!”

Fine.  There is still no justice.  Why is there still peace?  When?!  When are we going to decide that we are going to protect our own children?  The justice system is not going to do it.  I think that’s been proven over a much longer history than just the two Florida cases that we have recently observed.  I have posted on this blog before, my observation of what a young black life is worth in this country.  How much more proof do we need?  How many more children will we bury before we decide that this is not acceptable?

Blacks have been asking for decades to be considered human beings.  We have continually accepted breadcrumbs and symbolic gestures, and continue to observe no real changes.  We bury child after child after child, and we observe no real changes.  We elect a black President.  And still, no real changes!  In fact, in my own humble opinion, it has gotten worse since that time.  Try and vote in Texas without your gun permit.  Try and use your student ID.  And yet we keep asking.  Nicely.

I ask again.  How many more children will we bury before we decide that this is unacceptable?  You say it’s already unacceptable, but are you ready to do something about it?  By any means necessary?  Do you have a limit?  What is it?  Are you aware of how the Irish gained respect in this country?  Would you be willing to go that far?

I have some strong feeling about all of this.  Obviously.  But I’m going to stop here.  I want you; the people, to think about it for a while and we can revisit our options.  While you are thinking about it, ask yourself this.  If I had fired my weapon 10 times into a vehicle full of unarmed but tough talking white kids in a claim of self-defense; would I have gotten off as easily as Mr. Dunn last week?

Ask yourself.

Love you guys,

Toby

Twelve days into the year and we have already had 14 homicides around Baltimore.  As someone who lived in D.C. when crack was new and we were the murder capitol as well as the country’s capitol, I had hoped we would never sink to such lows again.

I am wrong of course. Detroit, Chicago, and Baltimore have followed suit, as well as a host of other cities over the years that should not have equal billing. None of these cities should be on any such list. Primarily because it should not be that easy to kill someone.

I am not talking about the firearms debate because it’s not really about that. I understand going after them because it would seem the easiest way to curb the random and not-so-random violence that is striking all of our neighborhoods all at once. However, it goes beyond that.

How does one human being kill another human being in any situation outside true survival. True survival being a more tangible reason than just “fearing for my life.” Perhaps in a fight over what I knew was the last drinkable water on earth, or the last fertile female with whom I might start to re-populate the earth, I could kill quite easily.

But who knows? During a similar discussion with someone in my inner circle, I was told that he wouldn’t even want to kill for those reasons. I am skeptical, but have to take him at his word while hoping we never have to find out.

With all of that said, I find myself feeling flat that one person close to my family had to spend her Christmas having lost her brother about a week before. That homicide remains unsolved of course. He was found shot to death. That’s all we know.

Number 14 was found similarly in a crashed car this morning. Now I wonder what we can do under the circumstances. There are 350 days to go.

Quran Burning

“Pastor Terry Jones Arrested Before Planned Quran Burning” reads the headline from NPR.  What is this man’s fascination with the Quran?  How does he think burning a book helps anyone?  Why is he so focused on trying to get those who do not like us to dislike us more?

Can anyone point me to the place in the Bible where it tells me to burn other people’s religious material?  Because I’ve been through the Bible and I don’t ever remember reading anything like that.  I think we’re past the Inquisition.  But I’m beginning to think that I might have fallen asleep and been transported back in time before I woke up.

Yesterday I read a post from a guy who referred to George Zimmerman as a National Hero who prevented thousands of violent crimes with one bullet and in another post saw the phrase “you people” used by someone speaking about a group of ambiguous people that he chose not to identify.

We drive RC cars on Mars.  Build computers that compete on game shows, and fly small planes from the safety of our offices.  I am communicating with you in near real time.  But somehow, not all of us have arrived at the same place at the same time.

Perhaps this is less an observation than it is a question.  I’m just not sure if I want the answer.  My tags don’t include the word Pastor for obvious reasons.

I really appreciate you all listening.  I’m finding more time to return the favor as we speak.

Women of the Week

I’d like to post a notable Congratulations to Maya Angelou and Diana Nyad.

We all have heard about Diana Nyad’s swim from Cuba to Florida at age 64.

This morning I learned that Maya Angelou has been chosen to receive the Book Foundation’s Literarian Award at the tender young age of 85 years.  This will be the first “official” literary prize she has won in her distinguished career, despite having won Grammys and other arts awards.

These two women have been a shining beacon in what has shaped up to be a very dark week.  And that makes them, my women of the week!

Now pass the mustard gas and turn on the Ghetto Tracker app!

Love you guys.

The Game of Syria

I had been debating whether to post on the lack of participation in the March on Washington by Republican leadership last week.  That whole thing has left me with a lot of questions.  But it seems the new game of Syria has distracted me from a cause I wish I didn’t have to take up.

The first round of the game is the reaction of the world to President Obama’s decision to withhold action and defer to Congress for backing.  From the people who have tried to taunt the United States by calling it a cowardly move, to the John McCains who are now claiming that Obama did not need to ask for permission to make a move.

Am I the only one who thinks McCain would have been the first person in line to have the President impeached for putting the US in a war without asking Congress?  Sometimes it’s not the racism that bothers me as much as the feeling that all of these guys and gals on The Hill think that all of the American people that voted them into office must be stupid.  Maybe we were stupid for voting for them, but we’re not too stupid to see the games they play, and with other peoples lives at that.

The lives of the Syrian people are at stake.  The lives of our women and men of the armed forces are also going to be at stake shortly, and we’re still catching our breath from the last 12 years of straight war.  But it’s all a polictical game to some people.  A President who has to delay action just to cover his ass and a Senator that has to find a fault with a man covering his ass.

That is in my definition, a game, and with Russia, China, and Iran not wanting us in there, this thing could be getting bigger before it gets smaller.  Like a giant penis with a bunch of little penises running around trying to control it.

I’m not sure what to make of this game because I don’t see that a winner is possible in this one.  I am on edge because I do think that there should be serious consequences to using chemical weapons on anyone, much less citizens of your own country.  I empathize with people that disagree, but if you’ve ever seen what that stuff does up close and not on video or better yet, had the stuff used on you; I suspect you would be feeling about as prickly as I’m feeling right now.  And if you don’t want to find out, then we have to do this.

For all my buddies out there in the Architectural field, check out this article on Yahoo! from our friends in the UK.

It’s lonely out in space

It might be lonely in space, but it couldn’t be as stupid as it is here could it?  Who would have to worry about climate change in a total vacuum?  Amanda Bynes would still be more relevant than Miley Cyrus.  Perhaps another race of people would care more about her schizophrenia than someone’s silly dance hi-jinx.

But then maybe it would just be galaxy after galaxy with no noise and no news.  Who would follow me there.  And who would really care.  It’s space my brothers and sisters.
